Pulling engagement data into Excel using Validis formulas
The Validis Excel Add-in connects Microsoft Excel directly to your Validis portal, so you can retrieve engagement data and build custom reporting templates using Validis formulas. It is intended for existing Validis customers working in financial sectors such as lending and auditing.
The way it works is that you build a reusable reporting template using Validis formulas, then select an engagement in the task pane. The template fills with that engagement's data, and you can point the same template at a different engagement whenever you need to.

Installing the add-in
Step 1
Add it from the Office store
Open Microsoft Excel and go to the Home tab. Select Get Add-ins, which may be labelled Office Add-ins or Add-ins depending on your version of Excel. Search for Validis in the store, then select Add.

Open the task pane
Once installed, select the Validis add-in to open the Validis Add-in task pane on the right of the workbook. If you close the pane later, Show Task Pane on the ribbon brings it back.
Connecting to your portal

Enter your portal URL
The pane opens on Connect to Validis and asks for your organisation's portal address. Enter it in Portal URL, then select Connect.
You can find your portal address in your browser's address bar on any page of the portal. Enter the domain only, for example yourportal.region.validis.com, not the full page address that follows it.
Please note
Only addresses belonging to an existing Validis portal work with the add-in.

Sign in with your Validis credentials
Once the portal address is accepted, the pane shows the login screen for that portal. Enter the same email address and password you use for the Validis web portal, then select Log in. Forgot password? works the same way as it does on the web.
If you entered the wrong portal address, Return to domain selection takes you back so you can enter another.
Important
You must have accepted the Validis End User Terms on your portal before you can log in through the add-in. If you have not, you will see an error message. Sign in to the Validis web portal first, accept the terms, then come back to the add-in.
Selecting an engagement

Choose the engagement to pull data from
After you log in, the pane shows Select engagement, listing every engagement you have access to. Search for the engagement, or browse the dropdown, then select it.
The add-in retrieves that engagement's data and populates the Validis formulas already in your workbook. To report on a different engagement, select another one here and the same formulas repopulate.
Building your template
