What Large Language Model / Service are you using?
Validis is using Azure OpenAI Service, a managed offering by Microsoft hosted in Azure.
Is my client’s data being sent to OpenAI?
No. Azure OpenAI Service is an independent offering by Microsoft Azure. It utilises OpenAI models but is fully independent of OpenAI. No data leaves Microsoft Azure networks to any third party.
Is my client’s data used to train any models?
No. We are use what are called Foundational Models (e.g. GPT 4o). These models are pre-trained and as such require no fine-tuning. Neither Validis nor Microsoft uses the data sent to the LLM to perform any training.
Are the files I upload processed by Azure Open AI Service?
If the uploaded files are for an accounting package we have seen before and now understand the structure of, no data is sent to Azure OpenAI Service. If this is a new package we have yet to see, we will send a subset of the data in the files to the LLM to understand the structure of the file. Once the structure is understood, we use standard processing techniques to process the uploaded reports in our standard format and generate a Chart of Accounts.
Can Microsoft access my client’s data?
No. Like all Azure services, Microsoft cannot access, modify or delete the data that is sent to Azure OpenAI Service.
How large a file can you process?
We have processed files with over 1m rows (~1GB in size). The main challenge is not the processing but the browser upload. Processing is usually completed within 1 minute.
How long will my files shared via Upload be stored?
The Validis Smart Data Engine does not store shares files. Files shared via the Upload option will be processed and data stored within a customer engagement on the Validis platform. Engagement data is managed by Customer users in line with the respective Client data retention policies detailed in agreements between Validis Customers and their Clients.
Who has access to the files I share via Upload?
Our Validis team will only access your data in accordance with our Support Policy to investigate and/or resolve issues or bugs. Access to your data is highly restricted to key members of the engineering team and support teams in the performance of their roles.
