Reports must be in the accounting packages' native format, properly structured, include all required fields, and be free of formatting errors that could cause upload issues.
Introduction
- This guide will help you download the Posted Journals and Internal - Trial Balance (TB) reports from Carta, ensuring the data meets Validis' upload requirements.
- Reports should be exported in (.CSV), (.XLSX), or (.XLS) file format.
- File size must not exceed 100 MB.
- Reports must already contain the required fields without manual manipulation.
Downloading Financials Report from Carta
Step 1: Access the Fund Financials
- Log in to your Carta account.
- Navigate to the Fund Financials section from your dashboard.
- If your fund is part of the Day 1 financials population, you will receive an email notification once the financials are approved by the General Partner (GP). Click on the Review financial package link in the email to begin.
Step 2: Download the Financial Package
- On your Carta dashboard, locate the task under My To-Dos and click on Review financial package: Auditor.
- Download the financial package workbook (Excel file) by clicking Download workbook at the bottom of the page.
Extracting Required Reports for Upload and Share
The tabs that we require within the workbook are the Internal – Trial Balance and Posted Journals.
Internal – Trial Balance
- Open the downloaded Excel workbook.
- Locate the Internal – Trial Balance sheet.
- Ensure the following fields are included:
- Account Name
- Account Code
- Account Balance
- Save this sheet as a separate Excel file.
Posted Journals
- In the same Excel workbook, find the Posted Journals sheet.
- Verify that the following fields are present:
- Account Name
- Account Code
- Transaction Date
- Transaction Number/Reference
- Transaction Balance
- (Optional but recommended) Transaction Description
- Save this sheet as a separate Excel file.
