Xero for Validis Connect
- You are online and connected to the internet.
- You have an Xero Account and you can access the data you wish to share.
- You have a Standard or Adviser account type or an account that can set up or disconnect connected apps.
- You know the User ID and Password for your Xero account.
You may need to ask your IT department for some of the above information.
If you are having issues with your Xero data share, please visit the Notice of Change in arrangements with Xero.
When sharing your data from a Cloud Accounting Package, such as Xero, Validis does not need to use the Validis Connect component to perform an extract. This means you can start a Cloud Accounting Package share from any machine with a supported web browser.
Your browser window will be redirected to the Xero authentication page and connect securely to xero.com. You will be asked to enter your login details for Xero.
The login screen has the Xero logo at the top and a description of the application that is asking for your accounting data. In this example the requester is Validis; so you can be sure this is a legitimate and secure request to connect to your data.
Enter your User ID and Password for Xero and click Login.
If the User ID and Password you provided are correct you will be logged into Xero and will be presented with a list of companies associated with your User ID that you can select to share.
If you only have one company in your Xero account the next screen will not be shown.
Select the company that you wish to share data from in the organization selection screen.
When you have selected the correct company, click Allow Access to enable the Validis platform to begin extracting your data from Xero.
The connection between Validis and Xero is now established and Xero is sharing your data to the portal. A brief message is displayed stating that Xero is now sending you back to Validis and you will be redirected back to the portal.
At this point, the Validis platform and Xero platform are talking to each other in the background and sharing the selected company data.
Depending on the size of your company file and the number of entries it contains this process may take several minutes to complete but since it is occurring as a system-to-system transfer you are free to carry on with other tasks or shut down your machine and power off if you need to - the transfer will continue.
You can view the progress of your share in the Validis Portal - You may need to refresh your browser.
The status of the Xero share will be displayed as Loading until the data transfer is completed.
When all of the requested data has been transferred into the Validis platform the status will change from Loading to Processing.
Please note: We recommend that you log out of Validis once you have allowed Validis access to Xero and your share status changes to 'Loading'. Share completion time is dependent on Xero's API usage and status at the time of share.
When the shared data has been processed the status will change to Completed. Your Engagement Manager or Client Manager will be notified by email that you have submitted a new share.
