As part of risk based auditing, DataShare gives you access to granular journal entry data allowing you to apply fraud based testing while using the TeamMate Analytics tool within Excel. One of these tests is to check for any weekend posting of journal entries.
To perform this test, create a journal entry data extract within Datashare.
Once the Excel sheet is created with the list of journal entries, delete the header from the sheet.
Select the TeamMate Analytics tab, and select the "Column Statistics" button.
Within the pop up box, first click on "None" for both the "Column to analyse" and "Analysis to run" to deselect all of the testing options. Then select under Column to analyse, "Date", "Creation Date" and "Posting Date". Under Analysis to run, expand Data Analysis and click on "Day of week".
It will ask you to rename the worksheet for the test results.
A new tab will be created with the report results, showing the number of transactions posted on each day. You can click on any of the numbers within the report to get a detail of transactions for testing.
