How to move from a report's top level down to the double entry behind a transaction
From a detailed report, you can drill all the way down from a category total to the individual transactions behind it, and then to the double entry for a single transaction. Each level opens in turn, and the breadcrumb at the top of the report shows where you are.
Step 1
Open a detailed report and expand a category
Go to General Ledger, then select Income statement (detailed) or Balance Sheet (detailed). This is the top level of the report. Select the arrow next to a category, such as Revenue, to expand it and see what it is made up of.
Step 2
Open the account summary
Select a line within the expanded category to open the Account Summary. This lists the individual accounts making up that line, with their opening balance, movement, and closing balance.
Step 3
View the transactions
Select an account to open the Transaction Data Viewer, showing every transaction posted to that account, with its number, type, date, account code and name, reference, description, and amount.
Step 4
View the double entry
Select a transaction to open the Double Entry Viewer, showing every side of that transaction, so you can see exactly which accounts it was posted to and how it balances.
Finding a transaction
At each level, you can use the search box above the report to find a specific entry.
You can also sort by most columns. Select a column heading to sort the list; the first selection sorts ascending (A to Z, or lowest to highest), and selecting the same heading again sorts descending.
To go back up a level, select any step in the breadcrumb at the top of the report.
