How to compare two periods side by side on a detailed report
On the Income statement (detailed) and Balance Sheet (detailed) reports, you can add a variance between the periods shown. Validis then calculates the difference between those periods and displays it alongside your figures, as both a value and a percentage.
Step 1
Open a detailed report
Go to General Ledger, then select either Income statement (detailed) or Balance Sheet (detailed). Select Variances, above the report.
Step 2
Choose your variance
The Add Variances window opens, listing the variances available based on the periods currently shown on the report. Tick the variance you want, or tick Select All, then select Apply.
The variances on offer depend on which periods the report is showing. To compare against a period that is not listed, add it to the report first using Add Comparison, then select Variances again. See Adding Periods.
Step 3
Review a variance
A Variance column and a % column are added to the report, showing the difference between the two periods as a value and as a percentage.
Removing a variance
Each column heading has an X next to it. Select the X above a column to remove that column from the report.
To clear everything you have added and return the report to its default periods, select Reset Comparison.
