How to securely share your Sage Intacct data with Validis
Sage Intacct connects to Validis directly, so there is nothing to download or install. You start the share from your engagement in the Validis portal and sign in to Sage Intacct to authorise it. You sign in with a dedicated web service user rather than your own Sage Intacct account, which is why there is some setup to do in Sage Intacct first.
Do this first
The share will not work until the prerequisites are in place in Sage Intacct. Complete Sage Intacct Prerequisite tasks before you start.
Before you start
Check these things before you begin. Sorting them out now avoids getting interrupted partway through the upload.
- Make sure you're online. Your data is sent while the process runs, so a stable internet connection is needed throughout.
- Have a working accounting package, and be able to reach the data you want to share within it.
- Have the web service user credentials to hand. Sage Intacct emails these to you when the web service user is created during the prerequisite setup.
Step 1
Get started with your engagement
Log in to the Validis portal, select the relevant Engagement, then select Share Data Now.
Step 2
Choose your accounting package
On the accounting package page, search for or select Sage Intacct, then select Next. This takes you to the Sage Intacct login page.
Step 3
Find your web service user credentials
You need the Company ID, Username, and Password that Sage Intacct sent you by email when the web service user was created during the prerequisite setup. The email looks like the example below.
Please note
These are not your personal Sage Intacct credentials. Use the web service user details from the email.
Step 4
Sign in to Sage Intacct
Enter the Company ID, Username and Password from that email, then select Submit.
After you've shared your data
Your data now queues for processing in the Validis central system. You can switch off your computer and disconnect from the network at this point if you want to.
You can track progress in the Validis portal, where the status moves from Processing to Completed. You may need to refresh your browser to see updates.
If you see "Access token expired" or your login is rejected
This means the Sage Intacct web service user's password needs to be reset. It does not mean your upload has failed for any other reason.
To reset it, you need a Sage Intacct user with admin permissions.
- Log in to Sage Intacct and go to Company, then Admin, then Users, Roles, and Groups.
- Select Web Services, Users.
- Find the web service user Validis uses, and select Edit.
- Check that the email address on the user is correct and one you can access.
- Select Reset password.
- When prompted, enter your own admin password and select Verify.
- Select Save.
