Share supporting documents with the firm you are sharing your data with
The firm you are working with may ask you for documents as well as your financial data, such as statements, schedules or signed documents. You can send these to them through the document uploader in your Validis portal.
- Your documents are passed on to the firm as they are. They are not processed into your financial data.
- You can upload documents at any time. You do not need to finish sharing your data first.
- The document uploader is switched on per portal. If you cannot see it, contact the firm that invited you or Validis support.
Uploading your documents
Step 1
Open the document uploader
Use either of these:
- The Upload documents icon in the header at the top of your dashboard.
- The Upload additional documents button on the Done step, which appears after you have shared your data.
Step 2
Add your documents
The Upload additional documents window opens. Select Upload files to choose your files, or drag them into the Drag your files here area.
Each file is listed with its name and size. To remove one, select the cross beside it. When you are ready, select Upload.
Step 3
Check your documents
When the upload finishes, Documents uploaded successfully appears at the top of the screen.
Your documents are listed on the Attachments tab of your dashboard, grouped by upload date. Select the arrow beside a date to see the files. The firm you are sharing with can also access them.
File requirements
- Accepted formats: CSV, XLS, XLSX, PDF, Word, JPG and PNG.
- Each file can be up to 100 MB.
Keeping your files safe
We scan every document for viruses when you upload it. We email you if a document is rejected, either because a virus was found or because the scan could not be completed.

I can't see the Upload documents icon.
The document uploader may not be switched on for your portal. Contact the firm that invited you or Validis support.
My file is too large.
Each document must be 100 MB or smaller. Split it into smaller files, or save it in a more compact format such as PDF.
Can I upload my financial data or an accounting backup here?
No. Documents uploaded here are not processed into your financial data. To share your data, connect your accounting package from your dashboard. Backup files are handled separately, so contact Validis support if you have been asked to send one.
Will uploading documents change my engagement status?
No. Your engagement status shows the progress of your data share, and supporting documents do not affect it.
