Overview
Domain Restriction is a feature that prevents a user from being created unless their email domain is one of the whitelisted domains.
Although Domain Restriction already exists as a product, it was previously optional. We have now mandated the use of this product for new clients and any edits made to client portals. Existing clients remain unaffected until modifications are made to their portals.
Please Note:
Upon activation of Domain Restriction, existing active users with different domains can still log in, and only new users are affected. This functionality existed before the mandatory implementation and remains unaltered. Please review staff user profiles to identify (if any) unusual email addresses, particularly those from existing domains.
Configuring Domain Restriction
Once signed into the portal, click Menu > Settings.
You will land on the Portal Settings page once loaded. Please select the Domain Restriction tab.
The Domain Restriction page is where you can add/remove email domains.
Click on the textbox under Allowed domains then type in the email domain you want to add to the whitelist.
- For example, @validis.com
- Please Note: Each item must start with the "@" symbol
Then click Save.
To remove a single email domain click on the X next to the address or remove all domains by clicking on the X on the right with a circle.
Domain Restriction Error
When users are created that do not match the allowed domains, the following error message appears:
- This domain is unavailable
