What Processing means, how long it usually takes, and when to get in touch
Processing appears once your data has been successfully extracted or uploaded into Validis and is being standardised. No action is needed from you while an upload sits in this status.
How long it usually takes
Most files shared through Upload & Share finish processing within 20 to 30 minutes. A small number need an additional automated check before they complete, which can take up to 24 hours. Nothing is required from you during that time.
Uploads made through a connector vary more widely, because the time depends on the accounting package and how much data is being extracted. The factors below explain why.
What affects the time
The time taken for Validis to fully process your data is determined by the number of uploads being processed at a given point in time, and is influenced by the following factors:
- Volume of data being processed per accounting package type
- Size of the data being presented to the processing service
- Number of processing instances available per accounting package type
- Availability of processing service for this particular package type
- Complexity of the processing required for the upload
- Certain vendor accounting packages require more processing than others due to the nature of how the data is stored within the accounting package
- The data output options required
- Some processing steps are not performed if you have not contracted for a specific data service.
If Processing does not finish
If an upload is still showing as Processing well beyond the times above, contact your Validis representative with the engagement name and the date and time of the upload. Do not re-run the upload first, as a second upload joins the same queue.
Please note
Processing is one of several statuses an upload moves through. For what each one means and what to do about it, see Upload Statuses in Validis.
