"Could not connect to database" - Error Message

The "Could not connect to database" error message occurs for a number of reasons. The following guidelines can resolve the most common reasons for this error:

 Resolution 

When attempting to upload your QuickBooks Desktop data
  • please check to make sure you are using the QuickBooks admin credentials.
  • If there are multiple users in the QuickBooks application, please make sure to have all users logged out of QuickBooks.
If your accounting package uses SQL database
  • please make sure that the Validis Connect (vClient) application is in the same environment as the SQL database. 
When uploading data for Sage 300c (ERP & AccPac)
  • please check to make sure you are using the SQL admin credentials
When uploading data for Dynamics Great Plains
  • please check to make sure the SQL Server name is correct and using the SQL admin credentials.
When uploading data for Dynamics Navision
  • please check to make sure that the SQL Server Instance Name and Database Name are correct.
