List of Accounting Package's Validis Connect Permissions

What you need in place before you share, package by package

Overview

Before uploading your accounting data to Validis, please ensure you meet the specific requirements for your accounting package. These may include permissions to access certain data or install applications. If you do not have the necessary access, please contact your IT team or the administrator of your accounting package to request the appropriate permissions.

General process

Once you have logged in, select the engagement you want to submit data for and select Upload. You will then be asked to select your accounting package.

For online accounting packages, you will be redirected to the accounting package provider website, where you will be asked to authenticate.

For desktop accounting packages, this will start the download of the Validis Connect application. Your browser will show the download progress. Depending on your desktop setup, you may encounter some security warnings that you need to acknowledge during the installation.

You must make sure of the following before uploading:

  • You have a working accounting package and can access the data you wish to share within it.
  • You are online and connected to the internet.

While the upload is running, we advise that no other users post or make any changes in the accounting package.

Sage
Sage 50 / Sage 50c UK and Ireland
  • Admin username and password.
  • Sage 50 is installed on a machine you have access to.
Sage 50 US (Peachtree)
  • Admin username and password.
  • Sage 50 is installed on a machine you have access to.
Sage 50 Canada (Simply)
  • You know the location of your Sage 50 Canada (Simply) SAJ directory that holds the data you wish to share.
  • You know the User ID and Password that can access your Sage 50 Canada (Simply) data.
  • This User ID must have a minimum of third-party product read-only access privileges within Sage 50 Canada (Simply). You can check this by following How to check your permissions in Sage 50 Canada (Simply).
  • You may need to ask your IT department for some of the above information.
Sage 100 Contractor
  • Your Sage 100 package must have a valid license file.
  • You know the SQL Server Instance Name, Username and Password that can access your Sage 100 Contractor data.
  • You know which version of Sage 100 you wish to share from, if you have multiple versions installed.
  • You know the Database Name you would like to share data from.
  • You may need to ask your IT department for some of the above information.
Sage 100 (Standard/Advanced)
  • Your Sage 100 package must have a valid license file.
  • You know the User ID and Password that can access your Sage 100 data.
  • You know which version of Sage 100 you wish to share from, if you have multiple versions installed.
  • You know the Company Name you would like to share data from.
  • You may need to ask your IT department for some of the above information.
Sage 200
  • The upload must be run from a machine with SQL Server Management Studio, System Administration and Sage 200 all installed.
  • The profile uploading must have access to the company database in both SQL and System Administration.
  • The profile must have its Server Role set to Public.
  • The profile User Mapping must be set to db_datareader or higher, and Public, on the company being uploaded.
  • The profile must be added to the company in System Administration.
  • Validis Connect will attempt to use Windows authentication to connect to the database if you do not enter any credentials on the user details screen.
  • You may need to ask your IT department for some of the above information.
Sage 300 CRE
  • Your Sage 300 package must have a valid license file.
  • You know the User ID and Password to access the Sage 300 database you wish to share.
  • You may need to ask your IT department for some of the above information.
Sage 300 AccPac
  • Your Sage 300 package must have a valid license file.
  • You know the SQL User ID and Password to access the Sage 300 database you wish to share. Validis Connect will attempt to use Windows authentication if you do not enter any credentials on the user details screen.
  • You may need to ask your IT department for some of the above information.
Sage Business Cloud
  • You have a Sage Business Cloud account and can access the data you wish to share.
  • You know the User ID and Password for your Sage Business Cloud account.
Sage Intacct
  • You have completed Sage Intacct Pre-Requisite tasks. The share will not work until these are in place.
  • You sign in with a dedicated web service user rather than your own Sage Intacct account.
  • You have the Company ID, Username and Password that Sage Intacct emails you when the web service user is created.
QuickBooks
QuickBooks Desktop
QuickBooks Online
  • Your QuickBooks Online package must have a valid license.
  • You have Master or Company Admin access to the company accounting data on your QuickBooks Online account.
Microsoft Dynamics
Microsoft Dynamics Navision / Business Central 365
  • You know the SQL Server Instance Name.
  • You know the Database name you wish to upload data from.
  • You know the SQL Server User ID and Password that can access the Microsoft Dynamics data.
  • Validis Connect (vClient) is run on the same machine where the company SQL Server instance is located.
  • You may need to ask your IT department for some of the above information.
Dynamics 365 Business Central (Online)
Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains (GP)
  • You know which version of Microsoft Dynamics GP to share data from.
  • You are running the upload from the same machine where the company SQL Server instance is located.
  • You know the SQL Server Instance Name.
  • You know the SQL Server User ID and Password that can access the data.
  • You know which Company to share data for.
  • You may need to ask your IT department for some of the above information.
Microsoft Dynamics Finance & Operations (F&O)
  • You have a Dynamics F&O Administrator account that can reach the company you are sharing.
  • You know the User ID and Password for that account. You enter these on the Microsoft sign in page, not in the Validis portal.
  • You know the URL you use to reach Dynamics.
Other packages
Abila
  • Your Abila package must have a valid license file.
  • You know the SQL Server Instance Name, Username and Password that can access your Abila data.
  • You know which version of Abila to share from, if you have multiple versions installed.
  • You know the Company Database Name to share data from.
  • You may need to ask your IT department for some of the above information.
Acumatica
  • You can access Acumatica in your browser from the system you are using for the upload.
  • You know the Login Name for your Acumatica tenant.
  • Your user account has Admin permissions to access accounting data in Acumatica.
  • Your user has the ODatav4 User role.
  • You may need to ask your IT department for some of the above information.
Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT
  • You have a valid Blackbaud installation and can reach the company data you want to share.
  • The person running the upload must be a Marketplace Admin in Blackbaud.
  • The Validis app is installed from the Blackbaud Marketplace. This is a one time job.
Epicor
  • You know the User ID and Password that can access your Epicor data.
  • You know the version of Epicor where your company data is stored.
  • You may need to ask your IT department for some of the above information.
FreeAgent
  • You have a FreeAgent account that can reach the data you want to share.
  • You know the User ID and Password for that account. You enter these on the FreeAgent sign in page, not in the Validis portal.
  • You have an Admin account type, or one that can set up and disconnect connected apps.
FreshBooks
  • You have a FreshBooks account and can access the data you wish to share.
  • You have Admin access to the company on your FreshBooks account.
  • You know the email address and password for your FreshBooks account.
MYOB
  • You have a MYOB account and can access the data you wish to share.
  • You know the User ID and Password that can access your MYOB data.
NetSuite
  • You have completed the NetSuite Integration Guide.
  • You have your NetSuite Company ID. Sign in to NetSuite and look at the web address in your browser. The letters and numbers at the start of it are your Company ID.
  • You are using the NetSuite Administrator account and can reach the data you want to share.
  • You know the User ID and Password for that account.
  • You are logged out of NetSuite before you begin.
Pegasus Opera 2/3
  • You know the version of Pegasus Opera 2/3 you wish to share from, if you have more than one installation on your desktop.
  • You know the User ID and Password to access your Pegasus Opera 2/3 data.
SAP Business One
  • Your system has access to SAP Business One.
  • You know the API Server Name and API Port Number.
  • You know the Database Name.
  • You know the Username and Password, and that account can access the data you are extracting.
  • You may need to ask your IT department for some of the above information.
Xero
  • You have a Xero account and can access the data you wish to share.
  • You have a Standard or Adviser account type, or an account that can set up or disconnect connected apps.
  • You know the User ID and Password for your Xero account.
Zoho Books
  • You can access Zoho Books in your browser from the system you are using for the upload.
  • Your user account has permissions to access accounting data in Zoho Books.
  • You may need to ask your IT department for some of the above information.
